Phytonutrients, also known as phytochemicals or functional foods, are chemicals or nutrients found in plant foods. If you’ve never heard of them, you’re not alone. *A Thai restaurant has opened up and it is the latest place to go out to dine. The food is fancy, is expensive and is exotic looking in appearance and in smell. Most diners are heartily eating and appear quite ecstatic about their dining experience, but one young woman, not knowing what to order, simply chose a choice item and with the first bite knew she had made a wrong choice. It was not too bad, and the second bite went down better than the first.

When she was ignored, she asked again. She got a sassy retort of ‘can’t you see we are busy.’

She left a note in the suggestion box about the cold, thin, skimpy beef stew. Where was the beef, the note began. A shred or two of something resembling a sliver from a cube of beef was floating on top, and the soup was thin indeed. A few cold potatoes cubes and a slice or two of onion was all it contained. There were no carrots, peas. She paid the bill, and left no tip. In a few months this place was bankrupt.

What am I Worth?What are we worth?

I have suffered from a spinal injury for the past 12 years that has resulted in a chronic loss of quality of life.  When I was young, I never understood the statements pitting quantity vs. quality of life.  I know better now.  I have become a bed fungus.  After wallowing in self pity and pain meds for so long, a part of me is screaming enough is enough!!  The situation is what it is and your condition is what it is and will be no better unless you get up and fight for every little pleasure that can be squeezed out of life.  Are you not worth at least that much to yourself?  That extra effort to reach the next goal or to at least spare your dignity.  I need to rebuild my body, my mind, my life.  As I sit here (yes, in my bed) looking at the mountain set before me, I can’t stop feeling overwhelmed by all that I MUST do.  If I want to have any life worth living. If I want to LIVE!!
I MUST:

  1. lose 120lbs. (at least)
  2. quit smoking cigarettes
  3. ween myself off morphine (prescribed by doctors and weened with the help of same doctors)
  4. become active (that means actually leave my bed and yes!!! leave my house)
  5. forgive myself for those things that are lost that I can never have back like time and be more positive
  6. find a source of income (SSI doesn’t even scratch the surface)

Yes, I am definitely worth it!!  I am worth more than precious rubies!!  We are always saying what we will die for but the true test is; what will you live for?  Will I live for my 12 year old twins and 7 year old daughter?  Will I live for my marriage?  Will I live for Samsoness (me) who has endured even when she didn’t want to?  YES, YES, and YES!!!  I want my life back! And I’m taking it by force if I must!

When my injury occurred, I was a semester away from entering a masters program in physical therapy while already perusing a bachelors in sports medicine.  It saddens me to say that I dropped out and fell back on my manicurist’s license.  I knew that the level of strength needed would no longer be mine.  Eventually the level of strength needed to be a nail tech was lost as well.  I have always been a book lover and many years ago reviewed books for the Murder and Mayhem book-club and Coffee-time Romances (among other groups).  I hope to return to book reviewing soon, that was something I really enjoyed.  I am also considering keeping up a blog for the duration of my journey back on my feet.

My interests are somewhat eclectic.  I LOVE reading.  Most genres are intriguing to me as long as it’s well written and edited.  I am an animal lover an advocate for the conservation of wildlife and endangered species.  Wow, doesn’t that just sound ducky!  But seriously, I love all animals.  Right now I live with 4 dogs and 1 ferret.  Those numbers are subject to change at any given time.  I am a Christian and consider myself a virtuous woman.  I love to travel and am very concerned with world affairs and the planet as a whole.  I am also interested in movies, music, electronics, and video games.  I guess you could say I am a well rounded woman with many interests.  I really like photography too, and am hoping to go back to school in the digital media field.  With all this having been said; YES, I am more than worth the effort and so much more and so are you!!

What is Energy Modelling and Has It Changed Over Time

Models are tools that help researchers to understand energy related processes while also providing policy makers with useful information for decision making. There are different kinds of models and they can be used for different purposes. Some models attempt to gauge the relationship of energy production-consumption to the prevailing price of energy. In other cases, models can be used to generate information about the rate of energy consumption against development for specific regions or groups of regions.

Environmental models might assess potential energy development together with environmental paramters, thereby serving to mitigate impacts, for example. Accordingly, where telecommunications infrastructure supports digital data delivery – and modelling – then higher levels of modelling and the complexity of the modeling increases, particularly where real-time events are occuring and being modelled. We often refer to these as ‘mission critical’ systems and processes and they usually entail higher levels of authentification and security.

In most cases, modelling is uncoupled from live systems. That is, the data is collected, managed and processed for modelling. But the change in modelling over time has meant increasing amounts of real-time modeling. This also leads to a requirement for computing software and processing mechanisms that can integrate data suitable for modelling purposes, often pre-processing the information or processing it in an intermediary fashion prior to connecting to larger processing systems, often located on specialised servers and hardware.

Significant change has taken place in terms of the types of models, their complexity and who can use them. It is not out of the ordinary for competing agencies to be developing models based on similar portions of data derived through a common source. So what’s the catch? Clearly, investment in data for modeling is important. Today’s tools can yield highly important, often critical results, that might not otherwise be apparent or available. Modelling enables enterprises with the ability to compete more effectively and completely while reducing risk and vulnerability.

Can a model be wrong? Yes, but usually weaker modelling is connected with the wrong types of information being used, or too little data driving the particular model for which specific answers are being sought. It is wise to use models as information sources, and to assign value to them based upon performance over time. But it is worth noting that energy models are increasingly connecting toward governance and consumers. This may be attributable to the fact that energy conservation and efficiency is most closely aligned to energy use and people making better decisions about how they use energy.
